Cathedral Basilica Restoration Council Donation Resolution Vote July 9th
As previously noted, the Diocese of Covington has a on-going campaign to raise funds for the restoration of the Cathedrals facade. So along with the Knights 4th Degree Assembly of NKY, our council has voted to create a resolution to donate $5000 over a 5yr period as our councils contribution toward a single Knights contribution to hopefully total $50k or more in order to have the Knights of Northern KY permanently recognized and engraved on the contributors memorial plaque at the Cathedral.
The resolution was presented to the council by the donation committee at our June membership meeting and after allowing for a one month review period will be voted on to enact the resolution and thereby the donation at our July membership meeting. Please read the resolution below and be present at the July 9th membership meeting to vote or email our Grand Knight Quinn Kobman at [email protected] with your proxy vote either for or against the resolution.
Resolution as written:
Whereas; Charity has been and remains the bedrock of intentions of the Knights of Columbus and is considered the first pillar of our Organization; and
Whereas; Council #15211, St. Timothy Council of the Knights of Columbus was duly chartered on December 12, 2010 with one of its main purposes to aid and support the people of St. Timothy Church, as part of the Diocese of Covington, in all of its Catholic functions.
Whereas; The Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, of which construction started in 1894, is one of only 85 minor basilicas in the United States.
Whereas; The officers and members of St. Timothy Council #15211 located in Union, Kentucky, concur entirely with these precepts.
Now Therefore Be It Resolved; That St. Timothy Council #15211 of St. Timothy Church, Union, Kentucky hereby authorize to donate to the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption’s Restored in Christ campaign in Fiscal Years 2024-2029 in the amount of $1000 per year from council funds.
And Be It Further Resolved; That said donation of $5000 total will be made to the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption’s Restored in Christ campaign.

(Minimum amount contributed to be recognized on the plaque is $50k)
*In recognition of this fund raising attempt, the Diocese has offered to include any individual Knights or their families individual contributions toward also be counted as part the Knights total amount raised to help us reach the $50k commitment goal.
So if you or your families have or are going to make an individual contribution, please let our Grand Knight Quinn Kobman know via email at [email protected] so he can give a list of these individual contributions to the Diocese to count towards the Knights total contribution.
